Fran and Lanny Replogle of Fenestra Winery offer the public a fascinating “inside” look at winemaking at Fenestra Winery at their 25th Annual Barrel Tasting on Presidents’ Day Weekend, February 16, 17 & 18, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, from noon to 5:00 pm. The special Barrel Tasting will be held at 12:30, 2:00 and 3:30 PM. This event will be held at Fenestra Winery, 83 Vallecitos Road, Livermore.

Owner Dr. Lanny Replogle (former Professor of Chemistry at San Jose State University) and winemaker Brent Amos (Sunday only) will pour barrel samples of six wines. We will be offering tastes of the following wines (all from the 2006 vintage): a Cabernet Franc from Ghielmetti Vineyard; two Petite Sirahs, one from Ghielmetti and one from Ruby Hill; two Cabernet Sauvignons from Thatcher Bay and Walker Vineyards; and a Tannat from Silvaspoons Vineyards. Attendees will learn about the making of each wine, and will be invited to comment on the wines.

Fenestra will release the 2005 Pinot Noir and 2005 Grenache, both made from Livermore Valley grapes and the 2005 Alvarelhão, a Portuguese variety. All Fenestra wines currently released will also be available for tasting. There is no charge for this event.

Fenestra Winery is located six miles from the Livermore 84 exit off Interstate 680, on the left side of Vallecitos Rd (formerly Highway 84). Turn right at the stoplight at Vallecitos Road. From 580, take Airway Blvd/Highway 84 exit to Kittyhawk (stoplight). Follow Hwy 84 (which becomes Isabel Ave.) to the Vallecitos Road/84 stoplight. Turn left, go a quarter mile, winery entrance on the left. The winery is open for tasting and sales every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5:00 PM.
