| FENESTRA WINERY’S ANNUAL “SOUP AND WINE WEEKEND” (Jan. 24th & 25th, 2009, noon to 5pm)
Fenestra Winery will be hosting their 17th annual “SOUPerbowl Soup and Wine Weekend” on January 24th and 25th from noon to 5pm both days. (For club members, “The Fenestra Fanatics,” the winery will open its doors 1 hour early at 11am for members only!) The winery always enjoys kicking off the New Year by pairing some warm and tasty soups with their award-winning wines.
Guest chefs will include Gimanelli’s Deli from Pleasanton, and some homemade recipes from Fenestra’s own tasting room staff. The cost is $10 per person ($5 for non-drinkers and children), and includes a glass, buffet plate, soup samples and unlimited access to the soup recipes, making this annual event a popular favorite. “It’s the perfect time of year to sample wine and warm up with delicious soups,” says Owner Fran Replogle. “It’s a great time to visit the winery.”
This year’s soups will include Mushroom and Tarragon, Jerusalem Artichoke, Roasted Root Veggie, Pear and Roquefort, and Tuscan Bean. All soups will be prepared with different Fenestra wines and then paired with them accordingly during the two-day event. Fenestra will also have two new releases, including a 2006 Touriga (Lodi) and a 2006 Petite Sirah (Livermore Valley) – both were previously club member wines.
