Fenestra Winery was established by the Replogle family on the
historic Ruby Hill property and in 1980 occupied the century-old
George True Winery building on Vallecitos Road. The old building
had been badly neglected, and the Replogles hauled away tons of trash,
and installed a new roof and strengthened the building. Now part
of the Ruby Hill development, (the Replogles lease the building
and surrounding grounds) which includes a Jack Nicklaus designed
golf course, homes and 900 acres of vineyards, the winery building
has been refurbished and vineyards have been planted around the
winery. The winery specializes in classically balanced, award-winning
wines from primarily Livermore Valley grapes. Livermore Valley's
first boutique winery, Fenestra Winery is celebrating 34 years of

WINEMAKER: Meredith Miles
I am a Livermore native, and by age 18 I began to realize that I was surrounded by vineyards and wineries, and that I could possibly be one of these revered people growing and making wine right here in my hometown. Because I was in Livermore, growing and winemaking to me was not a romanticized thing. Instead, the industry was mostly ruled by farmers, ranchers, and grassroots folks who wanted to live the life and revitalize the history of this area. Being a part of that really appealed to my nature. For years, I paid my dues in tasting rooms and hospitality positions. In 2004, I began pursuing my degree in Enology at Las Positas College, and in 2007, I started working at Fenestra as the Cellar Worker. Six years, three promotions, and one degree later, I am now the Head Winemaker. I have learned so much from my education and my predecessors at Fenestra, and continue to learn to this day as the Winemaker. Each year is profoundly different, and every day brings a new challenge, and a new chance to shine. My biggest hope is that I am doing my part to work side-by-side with my industry peers to make Livermore Valley the star that we know it is. We have done much work and have come a long way to bring the Livermore wine industry back to its former glory, and there is a lot to be proud of. I invite you to visit the Livermore Valley and taste what Fenestra has to offer.
